Ascension

Ascension and Warrior Victorious were published together by WLE Publishing in Tucson, AZ and the original oil paintings were purchased by the company. Ascension is the more visionary of the two in terms of theme and it fittingly exhibits Denton's profound respect for wolves. At the time the painting of Ascension was in process, we had a Siberian husky who was frequently used as a model. Denton also had a number of friends who allowed him to photograph their wolves or wolf dogs for his paintings. The title Ascension is taken from the ascension of the moon that rises from the bottom of the painting and culminates over the crying (or singing!) wolf's head.
