The Eye of the Eagle original oil painting was completed in 1988 and remains in the artist's personal collection. Eye of the Eagle was one of the first oil paintings in which Denton found success in the layering and bonding technique he was experimenting with. In the unique layering and bonding technique that he uses in the preparation of his canvas, it is essential that there be a harmonious fusion between the adhesive solutions applied in the bonding and the oil paints. Eye of the Eagle is aptly titled and is an excellent tribute to those noble raptors that Denton so deeply admires. In 1992, Leanin' Tree Cards in Boulder, Colorado published the Eye of the Eagle image on greeting cards, T-shirts, and ceramic tiles.
